Please help me out!!!?
How can I make the beginning of this exciting? It needs to capture the reader’s attention.
The most courageous event in my life was the time I protected my brother and I from the attack of a gigantic black dog. I was ten and he was seven at that time. It was the middle of June in Utah and it was a beautiful sunny day. There wasn’t a cloud in the blue sky. We could hear birds singing their melody in the distance. The fresh air smelled of delicious watermelons. We decided it was a perfect day to ride our shiny new bikes around the block, yet we didn’t know what awaited us on this so-called perfect day.
The rest of the story basically says that we got chased by the dog and my brother fell on the ground and I protected him and got him home safely. So how can I make the beginning of that story get the reader’s attention?
Its okay but the start needs to change to something like. “We were just walking along a huge, black drool dripping dog tried to attack my brother. When” and put ” I was ten and he was seven at that time. It was the middle of June in Utah…”
