How practical are these European style cribs , low to the ground, with the sides that do not go down?

most of them have adjustable bases so you can lower the base and increase the distance from the top rail to the base as the child gets older.
I have one from Ikea that I love, when the base is at its lowest level the distance between the base and the top rail is actually far greater than in a drop side one so it is actually harder for the child to climb out.

I have used both a drop sided one and the fixed one, I actually find the fixed sided one a lot easier to use as because it is lower to the ground I don’t have to stand on tip toe to reach over the top rail. Plus I have always been dubious about the safety of the drop side ones.
Mine converts to a toddler bed so I can definitely use it well into toddler hood and when my son has outgrown it as a bed I can convert it into a two seater seat.
